    Good morning folks.
When I log in to my computer, I am receiving the following error. "Cannot find ASICNTRL.DLL. Windows needs this file to run C:\Windows\ASISTAT.EXE "
After that I receive the following error. "ASISTAT - Access to the specified device, path or file is denied ".
Then I proceed to the error "DESKTOP - Could not load or run 'ASISTAT' specified in the WIN.INI file. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the WIN.INI file. "
Can you assist me in these problems?
    Thanks!
    Barb

Status monitor for an NEC SuperScript printer
Or possible a Xerox DocuPrint P12 Status Monitor
I see some other printers might also use ASICNTRL.DLL
Do you have either of those printers ?
perhaps taking its shortcut out of the startup folder then reinstalling its software will help ?

Ive no idea why it would be mentioned in A win.ini file

    I had a similar problem with "ASI.cntrl.dll. "

After my Windows 98 crash, I reinstalled the software on my computer using a recovery disk.

I then attempted to reinstall all of the peripherals I had, including my printer, which is a NEC Super Script 870.

After going through the motions and clicking "Finish" to install the printer driver (from the CD disk), I get a message like this:

"ASI.cntrl.dll driver in use by another program. Close all programs and retry."

What do I do? I didn't have any other progrmas open?

All I want to do is reinstall my printer.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hello to both fluidyne and inkcil,

It's been a few days and neither of you have updated this post. How are you doing on this? Please post your progress or lack of progress or share the fix.
