In the C:\Windows folder I find these. There are several dating way back to the year 1999. The latest is 12/1/07

    Folder name-NtUninstallWudf101000$
    Sub folder--------Spuninst
Contents of spuninst.txt in same dated 12/1/2007.
    DEL "c:\windows\system32\wudfcoinstaller.dll "
    DEL "c:\windows\system32\wudfhost.exe "
    DEL "c:\windows\system32\wudfplatform.dll "
    DEL "c:\windows\system32\wudfsvc.dll "
    DEL "c:\windows\system32\wudfx.dll "
    DEL "c:\windows\system32\drivers\wudfpf.sys "
    DEL "c:\windows\system32\drivers\wudfrd.sys "
    COPY "C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallWudf01000$\spuninst\spuninst.txt "

Those are backups of Windows Updates uninstallers. I would save them to a CD before attempting to remove them.

Those files are for the following.

Description: Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework Platform Driver

Thank you very much for the info and confirming my suspicions.

Since posting I have been running property checks on some of the DLLS and see that some of the ones dated 12/1/07 are assosiated with Windows Media Player. Other are associated with Windows OS itself. And believe that may be the day I upgraded/updated WMP.

So, with so much more more important stuff going on and no apparrent problems ( and I don't need any ) I think I will leave them as they are for now.

So. Unless I am thinking completely wrong they refer to Windows Updates only. Not individual software.

    Thanks again.

Nancy is ready to try beating me again at a gaime of Cribbage. And that is a challange that I will meet head on LOL.

I put this question here because it relates directly.

Using PowerDesk and adding up the file sizes in each folder I see each one taking up app 8,000,000 of Space.
So mulitply that by 5 and it makes 40,000,000.

$NtUninstallwmp11$ alone is app 35-40,000,00 And absoultely NO problems with Windows Media PLayer. It has never been better.
Now my REAL question is, is that Megabytes or Kilobytes ? I FORGOT which is which.
I already have then on as CD as Whiskeyman suggested.

Nancy just said. "You should go check the mail." So I looked out and see app 1-1/2 inches of the that white stuff called SNOW. NO WAY JOSE !! So I gotta have something to do in here where it is nice and warm and dry.

That's kilobytes BillyBob. To give you an idea of how much space that is in megabytes, 1024 kilobytes=1 megabyte. I use Powerdesk too. For checking out how much space a certain folder is using or to find out what folders are using the most space, try using the size manager if you haven't already done so. It works pretty slick and will tell you in a hurry just where all that disk space has gone.;)

I had not. And WOW !! It sure does.

THANK YOU very much for the info and help.

I now have something new to work with when I get the more important things out of the way.
