I use my Win XP laptop to test and diagnose scanning issues on copiers. I normally login using my company's domain with my login and pw. I have my account as an Administrator. I've been receiving SMB scans when connected to the copier by a crossover cable with those credentials with no problem until recently. The crossover connection now fails but if I'm attached to the network they are successful.
If I login to the laptop as Administrator and proper pw I can receive SMB scans via crossover cable. What is different about the permission levels and the use or non-use of the network in this example?

It might depend on your permissions on the domain.

Does somebody else have the same administrator permissions on the domain? Ask them to log into the computer and see if it is the same. Try using another computer. If it seems to be the computer, try uninstalling the networking devices in Device Manager (and rebooting).

Thanks for the suggestion of removing the network devices. I believe you are thinking in the right direction. I will try that soon. Jeff
