    Hi,

Not sure if this is the best thread.

I'm trying to figure out a good way to archive old emails to DVD using Thunderbird. (TB 2.0.0.17, Windows XP Pro.)

I followed the instructions at http://home.att.net/~cherokee67/archivemailcd.html using Roxio Creator to burn a DVD. (I believe I chose "Track-At-Once, Open" though I don't remember for sure.)

However, when I go to load the archive account in Thunderbird, I can see all the mail folders, but when I click on one it doesn't display the message headers; just a blank window pane and an hourglass cursor.

    Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the Forum, peteforsyth!

    Pete,

Did you have the DVD in the drive before opening Thunderbird? Also, did you use a rewritable DVD? Otherwise the messages won't be viewable.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

    Thanks Ramona,

Yes on both. I was able to see the list of folders in Thunderbird, it just hung on displaying the contents of any folder.

Another update: I tried different settings in Roxio, closing the DVD session -- no help. Also, I tried just pointing Thunderbird at the folder on the hard drive; it worked fine, and recreated all the MSF files.

So the problem appears to be specific to the burned version.
