Archived E-mail [Location in Outlook 2000]

    When messages are archived in Outlook (2000):

    1. Where do they go?
    2. How are they accessed?
    3. How can they be deleted if the need arises?

    You have to turn on the arcive function. You should see the mail in folders within Outlook. The archived files are stored in the same folder as the rest of your mail:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

    Thanks. Is this the equivalent of "compacting" in Mozilla-based e-mail programs?

    Nope.

    Compacting does just that. It removes deleted mails and compresses the files...

    Archiving moves "older" mail from your inbox for example to an older mail/archive folder.
