    Application Error at shutdown

Hello--I have a box that appears at my shutdown stating I have a application error svchost.exe 0x10001754. The error comes out only at my shutdown asking me to terminate or debug the program. I've done both but it keeps coming back on my XP Internet Explorer. The box also says the Instruction could not read the reference memory. I click the box and it escapes but at next shutdown it comes right back.

If anyone would have any knowledge on this please give me your suggestions.

    Thank you very much!

    Garry

I understand that you have been dabbling in the registry in your other threads so this problem may be self inflicted - I will need to review those threads first. Unlikely to be today.

This line in one of the penultimate posts in the slow boot up thread is somewhat worrying ....
    On what basis?

I suggest you first log on to Black Viper and set all the Services to their default (as installed) settings appropriate to your Service Pack Level.

    Test IE

If there is no change then reset IE - Tools > Internet Options > Reset which restores IE to default settings.

You may have a memory problem, but it seems unlikely at this stage.

Thanks for your input PeteC--when I went ahead and set to XP Pro default the error on my shutdown 0x10001754 disappeared. We're going to keep out of the registry now that my computer is back to normal and must say running good.
Thank you PeteC you know your stuff
