Well this one is for the system experts:

I had reason to look for an application data file with a known path. Upon finding the folder it is 'lightened' or, simply put, greyed out. It will open and the content revealed. But looking for the content on a search will not find the file extension which, btw, shows up in other areas of system.

My question is: Is there an Administrator setting (there is only one user/administrator on my home system) which will allow a search for that file extension?

I have gone through the usual folder settings and set to reveal so-called hidden files but that was not sufficient.

Yes the link was helpful if not specific to the problem. I had not worked with file security much before.

The properies of the folder must be visle and that is done by right clicking the folder then opening properties (last selection.)

By simply un-checking read only and un-checking hidden, the folder became visible. Then the submenu allows you to also make visible files and subfolders beneath thse AppData folders.

    Thanks for answering.

I do not know how to mark things [solved] here.
