I found this application running in Windows 98. I can't find anything about it, where it came from and what it does. I searched google etc but came up empty handed. I removed it as the PC was not behaving and after removal, PC started to behave. Any ideas ?

HibbeeBoy--Well, ADMPROXHOST.exe is not a Windows98 file. And you are right. There is nothing on Google (or AlltheWeb) about it. I also ran searches on ADMPROX and got a few hits, but they did not mean much to me. And nothing on the Symantec site.
What did the program do when it ran? (How was your PC not behaving?
If you get this program back, what can you learn by right clicking on the ADMPROXHOST.exe file and clicking Properties|Version tab? (Click all the different categories, especially "Company Name ". What is indicated as "Description" of the program, and what company has the copyright?) Is it in your MSCONFIG (System Configuration Utility) Start up tab list? Does that tell you anything? Or does MSINFO32 (System Information) Running Processes?
I suggest you scan with a spyware detector like AdAware or Spybot. Can't hurt, and you might find something still lurking around. You could also go into Registry and do an Edit|Find on ADMPROXHOST.exe , or just ADMPROX.
I assume you have an antivirus program running in the background. If not, suggest you get one.
