    Hello,
My friend cannot login to AOL, and therefore can't access her emails. The helpline is next to useless, just tells her to power down etc (which did'nt work)
Is there an online service where she can access her email, I use mail2web but it doesnt seem to work for AOL

    Any help appreciated

Cannot sign in, thats whats causing the problem, however, managed to access the email using mail2web on an advanced login.

Also found out that you can configure outlook express for aol email now, will try that next.

    Thanks

Are you saying that she open the aol software and from within the aol software she cannot signin to her email? If so, do what I suggested but once connected to the net open Internet Explorer, go to aol.com & click the Signin link of that page.

If cannot signin using any browser then the issue is caused by the aol site or there are problems on the comp such as spyware-viruses-corrupted network files. If one has an aol account one can access the aol main website & signin to their email from any comp in the world w/out using aol software, using any web browser.

    Thanks Tony,
Its wierd, when her husband logs into XP as a user, and then signs into AOL it works perfectly. But when she logs in it wont work, tried the method with IE as you suggest but no luck, also the PC is much slower under her login.
Thought about virus but they've got norton & it hasnt picked anything up.

Anyway, I've set up Outlook express to use her AOL account, so she logs into XP on her husbands login and uses OE for her mail.

AOL "help "line still say to power down to cure the problem.

I have'nt come across AOL before but I must say I'm glad I havent from what I've seen.

FYI, using only an antivirus pgm will not ensure a malware free computer. One needs a good antivirus & 2-3 anti-spyware pgms. Most antivirus pgs will not detect and clean most spyware.
