AOL and Shareaza question

My computer has a cable modem. I believe something has been set up wrong. I can never get a connection through AOL only AOL IM. Also, when using a P2P file sharing system, I can never get a connection. However, my IE works fine, and I can surf the net with ease. Some webmail sites do not work though. Any thoughts? I don't know if something is set up wrong with my cable modem? Please, any insight would be great, thanks!

 

Not likely to be the cable modem with those symptoms.

Sounds like maybe a poorly set up firewall or something.

It would really help to know your OS (including SP) and the specific cable modem.
