Anyone know anything about this particular virus?

    I was called today to remove a virus and I found something I haven't seen in about 14 years. All of the user's data that was in common formats (JPG, DOC, XLS and many others) had .HTML appended to their names and all the data in the files had been zeroed.

    They had no antivirus installed on the computer.

    What's going around that would do this?

    Any information would be appreciated.

    Broni would be the very best person to answer your query I would think as he is the trained AntiSpyware/Malware expert on this forum. I am sure he will come by to give his opinion when he has the time.

    I couldn't tell you exactly which one, I can say it is probably one of the ransomware types.
