Tomorrow morning I'm going to deploy the Win 10 machine for my 85 year old Ma. The issue with Outlook Express is still not clear. I can export into a .csv. With Outlook 2010, it can take a .csv import, but I dont know about Outlook 365. I was emailed that I need to setup a Microsoft account to start Office 365. I think that sucks, but it makes sense because Msoft likes to spy on people and spam you. I want her Outlook email client to be dedicated to her Time Warner email only. No spam from Msoft--it will frustrate and confuse her

    Thanks

Did you look at WLM? It is almost like OE.

I got Outlook to work.. I had to manually configure the smtp and pop3. WLM was a piece of cake but I deleted it from the taskbar. I wanted that Outlook to work.

For anybody who wants to know, you can ouput OE contacts into a .csv. It will save as an excel file so scroll down and save it as a normal text file (with .csv format) It does import easily into Outlook 365.

It took 1½ hours to update..Ugh..

Yes, you have to create a Microsoft account. And yes, all through the setup Microsoft begs you to let them spy on you.. This was really disturbing to me. But I got through it. To work with the Road Runner/Time Warner email, don't use Msofts suggestion to let them try to autoconfigure..Do it manually, it's flawless and you will save a ½ hour on trying to wonder what is going wrong and why it won't connect.

I'd like to get that My Computer icon back on the desktop, if anybody knows.

Last but not least, is there keyboard command to shutdown? Ma can't find the shutoff at the bottom of the start button (she loved the windows+u+u on her XP machine)

    Regards

    See .....

How to Display the “My Computer” Icon on the Desktop in Windows 7, 8, or 10

How to Shutdown or Sleep Windows 10 With a Keyboard Shortcut

Even simpler is to configure the Power button to shut down the computer when pressed.

Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Additional Power Settings > Choose what the power buttons do.
