If what you're asking is can I connect to another PC and transfer just the OS to the laptop. The answer is NO. :(

You would need a full install of the OS, or an upgrade version and a full install for when windows asks for a qualifying product.

The "upgrade" version of Win 98 would be the lowest cost, but you need to have the original Win95 disk and "Product Key" (although you don't need to install 95 first, just prove that you own them). If you don't have them, then you could purchase a Win 98 OEM disk, it should be lower in cost than the "full" version (and Win98SE is better).

Check at the laptop manufacturer's website about the OS for it, it may require using a special "restore" disk, in which case a Windows disk would be useless. If it requires a special restore disk you will need to purchase it from the laptop manufacturer (IF they have an upgraded Win98 version).

    Double :( :(
