Any free/shareware to help speed up comp??

I have cable internet and it seems like a darned dialup! My comp is running so s l o w !!! Is there anything I can do to speed it up? I always do a disk clean/defrag etc. but it isn't helping with the speed at all.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Right click on My Computer....go to properties...then look under the performance tab.

there is no performance tab! I could find this easily in win98 but not here! LOL!! There is: General; Network Identification; Hardware and User Profiles.

It would most probably behoove you to run Ad-aware . From the list that you PM'd me...I see you've got Gator installed. It's famous as a pain in the but and spyware. You've also Got Gain. Another nasty.
Clean those up...and post back how it goes.

Okay, got rid of Gain, but I cannot live w/o Gator!!! Is there something similar?

I also just deleted a bunch of stuff but it's not helping speed much, dunno what is up with this!!!

Yes, there's Roboform as an alternative.

When you say you're deleting stuff? I hope you mean you're "uninstalling" programs properly through the control panel and add/remove.......rather than deleting them?

Did you run adaware?

Well.......... Most I used the unistall feature but

some didn't have one so I just deleted the whole file. GREAT. Now what did I do? LOL!! Can I fix that or is that gonna mess everything up? I'm running AdAware right now and will part with my Gator if I MUST. I can try that other one you recommended but thing is, I don't remember all my passwords!! LOL!!
