You know, you insert a DVD and you can't navigate My Computer or some programs until the computer reads the disc. Anyone know a fix for this?

    Thanks

Not aware of one - the big problem with fast CD/DVD drives is their need to spin up to high rpm (7500 ??) before they will read.

    Hence the delay.

    Wow, 7500? That's haulin!
I understand the drive needing to spin up to read the disc, but I don't understand it's need to tie up the rest of the system while doing so. It may be a mere 5-10 seconds, but it's still annoying. Especially since I can't understand a reason for it.
I just noticed today that even my browser IE6 stopped until the inserted DVD was read. Sigh........

Sometimes turning off the Indexing service solves this problem. (Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services)
