If I download Eudora to test if I like it better, are their any DLLs or anything else likely to conflict with Netscape mail?

Had already been thinking of doing it for a better address book when in 4.7, but now pretty much ready to.

    Thanks, Carol in dc

    Carol,

I don't believe you will have any problems using Eudora with Netscape 7, but the only way to know for certain is to try :)

Additionally, if you really want to go down that long road of testing email clients, here are a few you might consider:

    The Bat! (payware, trial)

    Becky! (payware, trial)

Calypso (free) & Courier (payware, trial?)

    Mulberry (payware, trial)

Do I have to do all that stuff if I just use Internt Explorer during the testing period?

Most likely not, but an IE + Eurdora user would need to verify. Of course, without making the changes Ramona mentioned you cannot give Eudora a fair trial with your browser of choice...

I have used Eudora with Netscape ( several versions ) Opera, AOL and no problems.

Eudroa is not intergrated into the system so much as others like OE. It is 99% standalone. There are just a couple of files that need to be in the C:\Windows folder. And if needed an Eudora re-install over top will do the job.

And if installed on a partition other than C: it WILL NOT get destoryed with a format of C:

I have the same version of Eudora on the same E: drive as I used in Win95. ( I am now in XP ) and still using it. With no lost addresses or Mail.

Also I suggest changing all names and addresses to Eudora Nicknames. Then they DO NOT depend on Windows Address book.

I never made the changes that you pointed to and still used Eudora as default from NS.

But I did not set up NS Mail either.

    User.JS page??

I found a page that explains what user.js all about and am beginning to appreciate its functions.

It had a list of things you can change. But I don't know if it was a complete list.

Do you have such a list on your pages??
    Thanks.

Googling will turn up various pages with user.js tips. However, a fairlly complete list can be found by typing the following into your location bar:

    about:config

    Hi Carol,

My Scripts for the user.js page isn't a defined list. It's a list of scripts that tranquilo helped me comprise. The user.js is for your personal preferences, those that you don't want Netscape to overwrite.

Actually, there is no "complete" list. Some users have only one script in their user.js file. Others have many more, and as I said, it's strictly a personal choice. Also a great way to keep track of your preference changes. Netscape now recommends not editing the prefs.js file, thus the importance of the user.s file.

Let us know if you have more questions.
