Antivirus that work on XP with no SP

    Hi,

    A client of mine has Windows XP with no SP on a quite old machine; I tried to install avira but with no avail;

    I am thinking of download SP1 and install it so that Avira can be installed. Meanwhile, is there any antivirus that can work on a XP with no SP?

    Avast & AVG do not mention the need for an SP, but your client is courting disaster if not running SP3 - which is now necessary to access Windows Updates.

    MS Security Essentials and Avira require SP2

    A quick Google would have yielded all the info. above :)

    I would hope no anti-virus would want to install when it detects no SP (or SP1 only) on Windows XP.

    I'd also hope that by the end of this year SP3 would be required.

    There is no point in installing AV software on these systems anyway, you're that easy compromised!
