Is it considered safe to do your scanning (i.e antivirus, ad-aware, spy-bot, etc. programs) while doing other things on your computer (i.e surfin' the web, writing e-mails, etc.)? I have never done it, but wondered if it would make a difference in your results of the scans?

I apologize if this should be something that might be included in the "help" sections of the programs that I use and haven't read up on!

Sure. But depending upon your system's resources, it might slow your work down as well as your scanning times. I generally reserves AV scanning for a time that I will not be needing to use my computer (i.e. dinner). But in answer to your question, there is no security risk to do it at the same time as your surf.
