Ive asked 4 of my friends, and no one knows why this keeps happening. Ill install XP on my other cpu, and after the initial copy of files is done and it re boots, I keep getting the same error... The XP setup will continue to go again, and then it will say FATAL ERROR : Installation Failed: D:\1386\asms. The parameter is incorrect. I keep getting this message repeatedly, and this is being installed to a fresh formatted HD. I removed all from HD's prior to installation. Does any one know how to fix this?

Joe, I'm just guessing you have a dirty or defective install disk. Is the D: drive the cd-rom drive designation of your system? Try cleaning it with rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth using straight strokes from the center outward. You may also want to copy it to the hard drive and install from there. That has always helped in the past versions but I haven't heard of anyone using it for XP yet. Mine came without a disk so I can't guide you there.

The error you are getting is probably referring to the I386 folder and not 1386 as you typed.

The path to that folder after it gets installed is:

    C:\I386\ASMS

and it contains some subfolders (four I think) and several files.

    Good luck.
