Hi, I've been trying to make Need For Speed High Stakes run on WinXP home for a while now with no success.
The game installs with no issues but I'm not able to run it, it keeps asking for the cd, which already is in the drive and eventually locks the system.
After browsing around this board I learned about the "installation in compatibility mode" so I decided to give it a try.
The game installs but apparently doesn't end the installation, I'm left with a black window with the title "Need For Speed High Stakes Setup ". I left it in this state for at least 30 minutes but nothing happened, so I went to close it and got the message stating that setup wasn't complete and if I exited i'd have to reinstall, so I waited another 20 minutes but nothing.
At this point, I reduced the window and looked for any sign of the game, I had the NFS icon and I launched it and the game started running apparently with no problem except not the best grafic quality.
But I still have open the setup window, I decided to close it but this automatically erased all data releted to the game.
I went through the process another 2 times but still experience the same.
At this point i wanted to try and install the game as I did other times, with no compatibility mode on, and then after the installation the lauch in compatibility mode but the system seems to remember to use compatibility mode during installation and I end up with the same window/setup not closing.
Is there a way to block the compatibility mode installation?
Any other suggestions would be kindly appreciated.
    Thanks
