Well, because I can't seem to stop myself from continually probing the inner workings of Norton, I ran a Live Update this morning, which promptly found I needed the dreaded Norton Redirector. Hmmm... I was online late last night, and saw NIS update quietly. Do I click or not? Reread the links CharlesVar posted, noted my backups were pretty current, and took it. Rebooted. Ran LU again, took an update, no reboot needed. Had to reboot for something else, later. Comp has been on all day working fine...Phew!

btw, there are no new processes running like those described in the threads. Everything in Task Manager is familiar.

The update worked well for me too, no news in the Task Manager!
