Another Netscape 7.2 Version ??

A friend sent me the following URL this evening.

He knows I use Netscape and while surfing he came across that page and thought I might be interested in it as a alternative to the original Netscape 7.2 browser. I took a look at it, but am a bit leery, of it, since I have never seen this page before much less heard of a *Netscape Clean Suite* V.7.2 browser for download until this URL was shared with me t'nite.

Just curious to know if any of the Moderators,or *anyone* at this forum has ever heard of this release of Netscape Clean Suite V.7.2 or if so are you using it? Do you guys think it is legit or not or does anyone know if it ever been posted on the Netscape Newgroups? Any info is appreciated.

It is not an official release of Netscape, and in fact the site states that it is Unofficial. Appears to be Swedish, but not sure. This is the first time I've seen this site, but I'm not interested enough to install...

Thanks for the info, and you might ask on the Netscape 7.2 NG.

The download is, probably, legit, and you can see that they say that it is unoffcial. I don't see any reason in the world to try something like this, especially since it is just a stub installer. In other words, you will have a small file, and then stay on line until you get the rest. I did this with the original 7.2, and I would never do it twice, because of possible errors.
If you want an alternate to 7.2, get yourself Mozilla1.7.5 (creating a separate profile for it).
Somehow I did not see Ramona's reply, but we agree. It is in Swedish.

 

Much thanks to both of you, for your input on the browser I asked about. I never intended to install it at all, just wanted some peeps who knew Netscape to let me know what they thought of it and if it was a rip of the original *Offical* Netcape, sort of like a streamlined version that others had released in the past. Ramona,thanks for suggestion but, don't think there is a need to ask on the newsgroups, as you and Weside shared your opinions of it.

Westside, I don't want to install, Mozilla either, I do not like the red dragon and since both Mozilla and Netscape seem to be mostly clones of each other, I will just stick to Netscape. Maybe Mozilla is more speedy, etc. but all those red dragons, etc.make it an ugly browser to me. ;-) But, sometime down the road, I might try Firefox, and Thunderbird, as a lot my friends on other forums, seem to rate them very highly as a good and secure browser and email client.

I would not be held up by the revolting icon. I am using this little program to fix the icons. This program allows you to get any icon you want a change the color. As for Mozilla, I am using icons created by a friend of mine. Mozilla 1.7.5 is excellent, with the same engine as Firefox 1.0. Don't get distracted by a silly icon, and you don't need to see anything initially, since adding -qiet to the Target, it would by pass the splash screen.
