I've had Windows Xp Pro with the pre-installed sp2 package for a while.
I'd use a Linksys wired router (model:BEFSR41) to connect, my computer, a laptop and my xbox.

a day or so ago, everything that ran through the router displayed the "limited..connectivity" message for the laptop(directly from the modem & through the router, "cable unplugged" for the desktop and xbox live still worked..?

i went out to to buy a new linksys ethernet card for my computer, and finally, the internet worked on the desktop, but only when its directly connected to the modem. the laptop still displayed the "limited..connectivity" message.

i have now moved into a new appartment and i have bought a linksys wireless router (model:WRT54GS v.5), wireless network cards for the pc and the laptop, hoping that this would fix my problem.

Once again, the only internet that works is through the wired network card on the desktop directly connected to the modem. the laptop shows limited , and the xbox doesn't even work anymore (routed and direct)

    i have tried nearly everything!
i reformatted the computer, (maybe i installed some faulty program)
i can't uninstall SP2 cause it came with windows,
    i've tried the reg. fix,
    i've tried winsock,
    and "http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl5mu8/index.htm" website isn't working.

actually, after i ran winsock, the showed that the internet was connected (through the router) but it couldn't load any pages, or anything internet related.

i have realized that the WLAN (wireless-G) light is not on, i'm sure thats not a good sign.

sorry for the long post, this is just really frustrating.

What do you get if you go the command prompt and type the following:
    Code:
    ping www.amazon.com
