I'm helping a friend fix his notebook. It's a about a 1990 NEC pc 6100. He told me someone replaced the h/d and the system never recognised it. It does. I booted it and it told me bios checksum was wrong.....load default, which I did, then it told me the partition was corrupt or does not exist....run Phdisk. Now, is phdisk the same as fdisk? How do I do this?

    Thanks,Mark

    H/D jumpers

I pulled the h/d to check the jumper settings. The chart says...device 0(no jumper), device 1(one vertical jumper), cable sel(one horizonal jumper). It's set on cable select, which is wrong, I think. Do I change it to device 0?
