Whenever I open an IE browser, an "Internet Explorer Security" window pops up saying "A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer ". The details of it is "This program will open outside of Protected mode. Internet Explorer's Protected mode helps your computer. If you do not trust this website, do not open this program.

The program name is "GoogleToolbarNotifier ". I checked the box "Do not show me the warning for this program again" and clicked "Don't allow ". But it did not help. Anytime I open a new IE browser, it still pops up.

I checked from Tools>Internet Options>Programs>Manage add-ons, and found that the "Google Toolbar Notifier BHO" was enabled a few days ago (not by me). I had to disable again and again to get rid of the mentioned pop-up. But it'll come back sometimes later.

Why? What's the purpose of Google Toolbar Notifier?

Use the search engine of your choice for "google toolbar notifier." There are several sites available that explain what it is and the steps to make it go away.

One with a clear explanation is this page.

    Hi Miz and Evan,

Thanks for your input. I did what you suggested months ago. What's reminded me from Miz's input is about the Google Updater Service. It could be the problem that changed the default so the GoogleToolbarNotifier.exe ran again. I'll try to take it off.
