My son downloaded Incredimail, a free email program that is very similar to Outlook Express. I do not want to use the program. EVERY time any of the other users on our computer (2 of 4 do not use Incredimail) the program tries to install itself as our preferred email program trying to run through a wizard asking email account information etc. We just click cancel. This is annoying but not the worst part of the problem.

In Outlook Express, if I need to open a forwarded email, when I double click or click on open attachment the same Incredimail wizard opens. I can't seem to get around the thing. This means that, unless I go through the Incredimail wizard, I can't read forwarded emails that I must open.

I've emailed Incredimail but they won't reply. I've tried changing settings in Outlook Express to show email threads but that doesn't seem to make any difference. I've been to the Control Panel and thought I had deleted the Incredimail install icon but it is still doing it.

I am running WinXP Home Edition.

Any help in diffusing this problem (other than deleting the program... which I am close to doing anyway) would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks.

As you've noticed, Incredimail on a multi-user XP system just seems to get confused. No cure at this point until they upgrade the software.

Take a look at The Bat & Pegasus which are similar to Incredimail but behave much better.

    thanks Newt

I appreciate the quick reply even though the content was bad news. I checked out Bat... looks interesting but pretty pricey. Pegasus has been around a long time and looks good. I'm not sure I can convince my boy that it's very cool... About as cool as OE.

    sigh...

Anyway, again, I appreciate your help.
