Resolved android 4.4 7 inch tablet won't work with usb keyboard

My friend has an 7 inch Allwinner
Android 4.4,
dualcore A23,
firmware v2.0,
Kernel vs 3.4.39 hszhu @Server 22 #1,
Build number polaris_723Q-eng4.4 JDQ39 201 40530 test keys.

Don't know if you need all of that. It came with a usb keyboard in a case. The kb has a usb cord with a usb to micro usb connector and the connector goes to the tablet. The kb doesn't work with the tablet. When you plug it in the lights flash once on the kb and then nothing. I connected a regular Dell usb kb into the tablet and it worked fine.

Someone mentioned to turn the Developer Options to off at the top right and try that, but it did nothing either.

 

Does the Keyboard in question work in a Desktop comp? If not - it may be faulty. Neil.

 

I hooked it up to my desktop and it didn't work. The cable from the kb seems to be built in. No way to check that? The lights do flash when initially hooked up to comp or tablet.
