    Hello guys!

Well its been a bit, but I figured you guys would be able to hit the nail right on the head with this one. Here's the problem

I have been randomly getting a RSP error on my machine. It is totally random and may not show its ugly head for a few days.

Here are my event log errors:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: EventSystem
    Event Category: (50)

When these errors occur I get the message that the RSP have suddenly stopped responding and the system will now reboot.

Anyone have any ideas as to why?

I have not added any new hardware, or upgraded anything. The last thing istalled about 2 weaks ago was Neverwinter Nights. This error doesn't occur when I game, its totally random.

    OOOPS
    Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

It says this service has suddenly stopped.

    My bad.

    Any clues?

Take a look at a "worst case" where you are being hacked - Microsoft Security Bulletin MS01-041 Malformed RPC Request Can Cause Service Failure. Only specified for 2K systems but XP may be a target as well.

I'd also suggest a look at both Technet and the normal on-line help for Remote Procedure Call. I found quite a few possibilities there based on exactly what you are running.

Unfortunately, can't search up an exact match so you may have found a nice, new XP bug. Or possibly there is something M$ has found out about and has a fix for but just hasn't published yet. So if technet & online support don't help, I think I'd open a case with M$ tech support.
