When I open Internet Explorer, a box pops up labeled RunDLL. It says, An exception occurred while trying to run "C\WINNT\system32\MSG120.cpy.dll ", UMonitor ".
It seems to happen only the first time I open the browser after booting up or rebooting. I click OK and move on without any ill effects. It's mostly just annoying.
What does this mean, and can I make it stop doing that?
    Thanks in advance.

I believe you have some sort of ad/spyware, as the result of a drive by install. Get Spybot, update, do the scan and remove everything already checked off. The link is below.

Yep install update and run spybot, I believe though Adaware targets the 120 series of zestyfind, so please do get it also,, always check for updates before scanning.

Would you do something please, do a file search for MSG12*
and tell us if you find any MSG121 - MSG122 ,23 etc
    dont do anything wth them

And also copy paste this into the internet explorer's addressbar then hit go then copy paste the results back here for us
    javascript:navigator.userAgent

Here are some basic settings to use.
with spybot just leave the settings as is.after (updating) then "check for problems" fix everything already marked in red.

    For adaware 6
The following explains how to set Ad-aware's settings to perform a "Full Scan. "
And some settings that should be made

In Ad-aware click the Gear to go to the Settings area.
The following items should be on a green check, not on a red X.
    Under the Scanning button:
    Scan within archives

Under Memory & Registry, Check EVERYTHING

In Check Drives & Folders, make sure all of your hard drives are selected

    Under the Tweak button...
Some of these may not be an available option, depending on your version of Ad-aware and your version of Windows. Do not be concerned if you cannot select a certain item.

    In Scanning Engine:
    Unload recognized processes during scanning

    In Cleaning Engine:
XP/2000: Allow unloading explorer to unload shell extensions prior to deletion
Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot
UNCHECK: Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion

Click Proceed to save these settings.
Now press "check for updates Now" Always check before scanning.
Click start [x] choose use default scanning options
click next and let it fix anything it finds by placeing a check next to everything it finds

    always Reboot if prompted
