I have a windows 2000 network but will soon be introducing a few XP machines. They will have SP2 on them and I wonderd if I can administer the Security centre from group policy - mainly by turning it off as we already have adequate firewall protection with PIX and ISA, or should I just leave it alone?

    Thanks

Grunty - I'm not really sure what you are asking. Could you ask again using different words.

Sorry, I will try and make it a little clearer, I am not entirely sure myself if this is something I should be worrying about anyway.

I administer a windows 2000 domain which has 70 workstations, and some servers. I make extensive use of group policies for drive mapping, logon scripts, screensaver timeouts etc.

The only machine that has XP is my own, and when I installed SP2 on it I disabled security center because it was messing up Internet Explorer, and we have a PIX firewall, and proxy/ISA server for security anyway.

I am about to replace 24 of our machines with new ones and plan to install XP Sp2 on them.

    My questions are:

Can I disable the XP security from Group Policy?

    Do I need to?

Is XP security set in the user or the computer profiles?

Hope this makes things a little clearer

    Thanks
