    Appreciate some assistance.

Looking for some guidance on the maximum temperature an AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.1GHz CPU can endure without damage.

    NOT into overclocking!!

Looked at the AMD website, but can't seem to find specifics.

    Any ideas?

Thank you for the reply and the info.

Ended up getting a fan for the case. Temp went down from 140*F to about 123*F.

    Also checking VCool software.

Temps do seem to be high

FZWG - My temps on somewhat similar rig were running in the 120*F to 125*F range with a supplied in the box AMD approved fan/heatsink. (Case temps 75 to 80F). I bought a
Swiftech MCXC370, Copper base, Heatsink + Fan and it lowered the cpu temp bout 15*F. Seemed a worthwhile investment to me, but all in the eyes of the beholder.

Afraid to ask.....how much does a Swiftech MCXC370, Copper base, Heatsink + Fan cost?

    Tinknocker-Right

FZWG - http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=62&manufactory=1437&DEPA=1 Can check it out at that site. It's $45, or can ratchet down to the non-copper one. Or look around and check 'em all out. Point here is that I thought I'd benefit from a cooler running processor, considered the pros and cons and did the do and consider that it was worth the $. I had a site that reviewed a bunch of coolers, but don't have it now and the Swiftech rated highly out of about 50 reviewed. If I can find it, I'll post it. Luck.

Haven't found what I had in mind, but this is a review of the subject cooler http://www.overclockers.com/articles500/

    Thank you for the info.

Somehow thought it might be the heck of a lot more expensive. That is not bad at all. The alternative might be a fried CPU.

    Will check it out.

    Have a good weekend.
