Hello, I hope that I can explain this. I have 2 PC's sharing a Cable Broadband Connection. I am using a Belkin Wireless Cable/DSL Router with my "Main PC ". I have a Rj45 cable from my cable Modem to the Router. Then I have another Cable from my NIC to the back of my Router. That works fine but each day on way to many occasions I have to "Unplug" (PowerDown) my Router for about 1 minute. I then get my connection back ALWAYS.
The other PC has a Belkin Wireless USB Network Adapter. This has worked just perfect since the first day I hooked this all up. I wrote to Belkin Tech Support 3 days ago but still NO answer.
Something, maybe the configuration is wrong, it drives me crazzy to have to Power Down so much.
    Thank You,,Paul

Is this for both computers that you lose connection or only one?

Also how is the second computer set up to share, is it hooked to a port on the router (builtin switch or hub) also or to a second NIC in the first computer?

    Mike

PS am leaving very soon but will check back later today!

Thanks Mike, actually its just the one, the main PC the one with the Modem. The Cable Modem is pluged into the "WAN" port on back of Router & the Network Card in this PC is pluged into the port on back of Router. It just did it again. I was on-line then I went to click on a link & the connction Times Out. I unplug the power line to the Wireless Router for about 1 minute & I'm back on for hours. Its just a pain. I'm pretty sure that the upstairs PC with the Wireless USB Network adapter looses its connection too. I'll have to look next time. The upstair PC has software with drivers loaded for the USB Adapter.
    Thank You Mike,,Paul:cool: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=200340&pcount=&Product_Id=122761&Section.Section_Path=%2FRoot%2FNetworki%2E%2E%2EndCables%2FWirelessNetworking%2Fct_Id>

The upstairs has wireless usb connection! Ok

On the downstairs computer then you must have a 2nd network card and be runing ICS or a proxy of some type!

So what is the downstairs wireless box hooked to! The cable that comes from the wireless box, where does it go, to computer or router?

Yes it is important to know if the upstairs computer is able to still connect to the internet. If it can then it is not the router but configuration of the downstairs computer!

I understand the way you know you have this problem is that you can no longer get on the internet is that correct? At that time are the lights on the router normal! "That is" the same as when the internet is working!

So next time check the upstairs computer before clearing the router!

    OK Paul

Now I understand how they are connected!

I read the links you sent me! You have a wireless router also so the pc upstairs is connected to the the router!

Now just let me know what happens on the upstairs computer when you lose internet downstairs!

Also look at lights on router recognize what is normal when everything is working, then also tell me the condition of the lights next time it fails!

Hi again Mike,,this is like bringing the car to the shop because of a sound, then it won't make the sound
Wanted you to know I haven't gone away & its going to happen. My downstairs PC (HP) has the Modem pluged into the back of Router in the "WAN" port. Then the NIC card from my PC goes to the LAN port in back of Router. I'm waiting for the Internet NOT to connect again to see if upstairs PC (IBM) is able to get on-line.
Thanks so far Mike ;) Paul

    OK I understand Paul

I now undestand how your system is connected!

So for now we wait untill if acts up!

While we wait become familiar with the lights on the router. Know what is normal so that you will notice a change if any when the problem returns!

The watched pot never boils! Smile!

I need to know 2 things!

    1. Does the upstairs computer still get online as usual.

    2. What are the condition of the lights on front of router when you lose connection!

    Mike
