I'm after an email program (not outlook/Express/Web Access)

I want is a real basic thing that allows you to send mail, can open the address book like outlook does, and uses IMAP with exchange

does anyone know a good site to look on to see if something like this has been done before? (I've tryed source forge)

    Any advise is appreciated

For a real basic one, try Eudora Light.
Eudora or Pegasus will do what you want as well, though the full Eudora 5.2 is adware.
Check the mail clients section at www.tucows.com for lots more.
If you need a link to Eudora Light (not sure it's "officially" offered any more), let me know.

BTW, congrats on getting away from Outhouse Express!

You can look at Pegasus. Don't think it does Hotmail though.

Eudora is the only one I am really familiar with.

If it is installed on a partition Other than C: it does not get lost if the OS goes south.

It is not so Windows/IE version specific as OE.

Import OE addresses and change them to Eudora Nicknames and they are saved right within the Eudora folder.

Calypso ( available from Rose City ) also seems to be good. I used it for a bit but lost it due to USER mess up. ( alias the DELETE key ) :(

The absolute best and most stable email aopp is available free right here at this web site! Calypso, available at www.rosecitysoftware.com

It can also do complex stuff like bulk mail etc etc. I believe all the win-help staff use this app.

    E-Mail Program Hunt

Hello Mr r davies,,I have used ALL the above mentioned E-mail programs many, many times and I always seem to come back to Outlook Express. I do seem to go back to Eudora and Calypso at this here site,,RoseCitySoftware. You may just enjoy using something like Yahoo's E-mail which is very good if you do not get tons of e-mail. If needed, you can purchase more space for little $$ . Good Luck & please let us know which one you picked...

    thanks

Outlook express doesn't integrate with exchange which is one of the requirements,

It's no just one user its for 100's of users, i may have to write one myself but if one exists already......why re invent the wheel!

    cheers for your help
    Mark
