I do a lot of web page development and the new IE6 that is part of XP SP2 default settings do not allow active content (javascript) to run on web pages located on a computer's hard drive. If I view a web page that I am building and this page uses any javascript, IE wil block the script from running and popup the security bar. I then have to click the bar and select "Allow blocked content... ".

This is a royal pain in the arse. How do I setup IE so ALL locally stored web pages will display and javascripts will run WITHOUT that darn security bar stepping in first? Is there a registry hack that can accomplish this?

I'm guessing here, but have you looked at the IE security settings for the Intranet?

Alternatively look in IE Help ....

    Thanks Joe,
This fixed it for me! (taken from the first link you provided)

    THE ANSWER...
IE Information Bar and Local content.

After spending half a day trying to figure this out I have the solution for most of you.

I am neither recommending or endorsing this change but if you need to view local web pages with active content or java script without having to deal with the Information bar.

Go to IE, click on the "Tools" menu, go to Internet Options...

When the dialog box comes up click on the "Advanced" tab. Scroll down to the Security setting and the second option is,

"Allow active content to run in files on My Computer. "

    Thank you Thank you.
I have been flat out the last 2 days building a site and postponed all my javascript work, which is very necessary for the site. Having made the appropriate change to IE settings I noticed the same restricitions applied to CDROM drive!

I don't see the point in the CDROM protection for Active Content cause all it takes to trash a computer using a CD is an malicious autorun.inf and batch file.
