You've also go a much larger problem, a bot installed. Likely a new variant as well.

If you have not done the Vundo Fix, hold off until this following tool is done.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and choose Install to extract it to its own folder on the Desktop. Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
    • Choose your usual account.
    • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
    • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
    • It will remove any Trojan Services or Registry Entries found then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
    • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
    • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
    • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt.
    • Finally copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log

Just some minor clean up at this point.

And HJT needs to be in its own folder, see your other thread too.

Run HJT, and place a check next to the following lines, then, with all browsers and windows closed, hit 'Fix checked':

    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157

    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157

Reboot post a new HJT log back into this thread please.

    HJT scan after checking boxes

Two things I have a problem with if this scan shows everything is cool. Computer is running great.

1.Cannot obtain Microsoft Windows Genuine Advantage due to failed download. Therefor no Windows updates possible. I have been searching here and it could have to due with the Mcafee program that I removed. I have sent Microsoft a request for help with issue, though others have got no where with that. Ideas?

2.No Internet Explorer desktop icon for this computer. The one that was there would never connect so I would always go to Start menu and grab it from Programs. Creating shorcut while at home page creates Google icon but never ends up connecting? Start, Programs, IE......

Thank you all so much. JRLogfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

    Thanks it worked

I did get a IE icon to work on the desktop with your instructions. I won't worry about the WGA manual updating because it appears to be working fine in automatic mode. Thanks.

Now, just wondering if my last HJT scan is cool.

Ok, looks like we have one item to fix, likely just a remnant.

Run HJT, and place a check next to the following lines, then, with all browsers and windows closed, hit 'Fix checked':

O23 - Service: Network Log Provider (NETXMP) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\nlbsvc.exe (file missing)

Reboot, run HJT, if the above are gone, no need to repost with new log.

Let me know how it goes.

Try running HJT in safe mode and fixing the same line. If that does not do it, lets get a start up list with HJT as instructed below.

Open HJT, click the [None of the above, just start the program] button.
Then click the [Config] button in the lower right hand of the program.
Then select the [Misc Tools] button.
In the upper left hand side of the program tick the two boxes [List also minor sections (full)] button and the [List empty sections (complete)] and hit the [Generate StarupList log] button, select 'Yes' when prompted by the dialog box. The resultant scan will produce a notepad log file, please paste that log file back here for me to review.
