Hello everyone, i have a bit of a problem with my Windows programs such as Windows Movie Maker and Windows Messenger.... pretty much anything with the words "Windows" in it. The programs do not start but for a split second the command prompt comes up but disappears a split second later. This also includes the sound controls which i try to access but it never works. System restore doesn't solve the problem. This doesnt seem to be a virus because my scanner doesn't pick it up. Any help with my situation would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

I have just found that all my administrative tools have been uninstalled/deleted as well :(

    Hi programsgone
This sounds like it may be malware related.

I would follow these instructions and post the logs in the Malware and Virus removal forum.

Please download and install HijackThis (let it install to the default location) and Run a scan then close HJT, then run RSIT.exe and post the log.txt log in the Malware and Virus removal forum.
    Links and instructions here.

    Thanks
    Geri
