I got a teac all in one Multi Card Reader and the specifications says that the host interface is USB 2.0/1.1 and the connector type is a internal (4 pin) USB Header connector. I have a Dell 8400 but I can't find a 4 pin connector on my mother board. The connectors on the reader are 10 pin, 5 up and 5 bellow, each. Their is 1 small connector to the reader with 6 pins wired, the other end is a large connector with 6 pins wired and it looks nothing like a USB connector. Can anyone tell me what I am missing? Can anyone tell me what can be done to fix the problem? Thanks in advance.

TonyT: My problem is that the end connector that plugs into the USB header is a plastic connector that looks like this __ll____ll_ 1/2 inch W by 1/4 deep
l 00000 l a blue wire going into pin 1 on top row
    l 00000 l a red goes into pin 1,white pin 2,green pin 3,
l _______l black pin 4 and orange pin 5 on bottom row

When I print out the spec sheet it states an internal (4 pin) USB header connector is the type used. I also have a USB PCI card that has 4 external and 1 internal ports but its not compatible with the reader plug. This has me in a corner but I don't want to give up. Any further help would be appreciated.

It looks like you solved my problem. The picture shows just the kind of header I need to plug into, right down to the 1 plugged hole so it can't be inserted incorrectly. Thanks for your helpful input.

Hi rgaleh, Is the link Tony gave you correct? It shows 2 USB 2.0 connectors on the front and 6 on the rear plate.
What you are about to buy will give you a total of 10 USB 2.0 connectors.
You are correct in that these are dedicated (will only insert one way) so I'm unable to understand why a PCI card with 2 USB connectors is different to what you have as OE in the computer. Neil.

The way I read this post is somewhat different than what is being suggested. USB itself is not 4 pin, but the power connector for the card reader is 4 pin and this is the 4 pin connector that comes from your PSU. It usually a white little squarish plug like the one used on a internal floppy disk.
As for the USB if you don't have a pin header on your motherboard, the link from SpywareDr to newegg will provide one.

Hoping this will point you in the right direction.
