Unknown reason, all icons on Desktop are now showing with the same symbol, white square with a centre square showing three minute size symbols. Many of the Icons show original software icon protruding slightly behind displayed icons.

Thanks Evan Omo, carried out each step, third item produced "C;\Users\AppDate\Local\iconcache.db could not be found ". Error started when screen was reduced to 30% without any intervention from me. I returned it to 100%, but Desktop Icons, all remained as one design. Each Icon has the original software protruding slightly behind shown icon on Desktop. Each Icon displays lettering naming the individual software installed.

Can you show me a screenshot of the shortcuts with the icons missing?

I am not sure how to do this! Desktop in my case, all icons are "overlayed" with the same pattern icon. Except Windows icons are showing as normal with no overlayed icon obscuring them.

lj50, tried FixIcons. Installed, StarDock.com. It required several attempts, finally it worked and now all Desktop Icons are showing correctly with added arrows. I tried to remove arrows, using FXVisor32 Arrow, which normally worked but this time fails, reporting an error. I am really pleased in that desktop is back to normal, my thanks to you.

I had a similar problem with my HP notebook with Window 7. Bobby you could try this Ultimate Windows Tweaker There is no need to download anything but the UWT2.2 app.

I downloaded the same version that you just downloaded. Went to Additional Tweaks and the entry was accessible. Can you undo any changes made by FXVisor32 Arrow app. Do you think this app might easier for you to use. You might have to uninstall the other apps before using this app.Shortcut Arrow, Change, Remove, or Restore

I ran UWT v.2.2 again, your Additional Tweaks is to be found where?
Clicking UWT shows = Change Log. empty. Read me. Ultimate Windows Tweeker. and visit the Windows Club. Sorry, but I am not sure as to what is required.

lj50, further to my last response, running UWT v.2.2 again, still finding obstacles as a caption on screen shows "Unhandled exception occurred in your applications ....... close immediately ". Any idea as to what is causing this error? Thanks.

Go to your downloads folder then right click on Ultimate Windows Tweaker and choose Properties go to the Compatibility tab. Under Privilege Level put a check in Run this program as an administrator. Click Apply(if button becomes active) and then OK.
