Aim won't work

This may sound dumb, but how do I register my inatant messenger (AOL) username. I did it once on another computer, but I can't remember how. Everything I read says to register it, but nothing says how.

 

If you already made a screen name, all you need to do is log on with it. If you don't remember your password, AIM can send a reminder to the email address you used when you made your SN.

 

It was a long time ago and it was a different email adddress. I didn't keep it up because I didn't know anyone who used it. When I went to their web site they said that I had to start over even though I knew the old email address.

 

Well, just start over with a new name similar to the old one. AIM SNs are a dime a dozen. I have at least 10 I can think of.
