I am just about to upgrade my motherboard and CPU. My preference is for Gigabyte motherbaords however two models I am looking at suggest that they only support 1.5volt AGP cards. Such a lot are 3.5volt including the one I have. Is this a normal voltage for current motherboards or should I be looking for another model and/or brand which supports 3.5volt AGO video cards? Or should it be possible to 'jumper' the motherboard for 3.5 volt?
    Thanks
    John

    My personal experience:
My Gigabyte board that was "guarenteed to be compatible with GeForce4 cards" spent 3 months in the the retailer's workshop with compatability problems. Ended up with a Radeon card. The board has a few other minor "querks ". Next time I will spend a bit more and go with an Asus (my previous board) or another board that is not so "mass produced" or thrown onto the market with the latest features.
The Gigabyte support website is hard to navigate, to get information it is sometimes easier to find it using a search engine like Google (I use Yahoo). You could find and download the motherboard manual to see which video cards they support, although I find that my Gigabyte manual does not go into enough detail and was written by someone with English as a second language.
    Some things to consider.

If you're upgrading, upgrade your graphics as well and shop for a Mobo with a type 3 AGP slot. These slots use a.8v signal and are designed for todays cards with 8x architecture. So it is said ... all graphics cards must be backward compatable..... Cavet emptor. take your time, do your homework, and remember it's usually true, "you get what you pay for. ".
Good luck. Must be nice. I wish I was shopping for a new system upgrade..
