after reinstall of 98se word not starting correctly

Had to reinstall 98se and now when I start word, windows installer screen pops up and tells me to insert office xp 2002 cd. After canceling multiple boxes windows installer boxes go away and word will start ok. I'm also having problems with xl start up . It tells me it didn't start because voice rec. is not installed. After checking I don't want to install,it starts fine. Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling office xp.
