Do you get an error message? If so, what is it?

    2. can't open any attachments to emails
Open Outlook Express, go to Tools>Options>Security and uncheck "Do not allow attachments...." Click OK.

    3. don't have the outlook express email bar that lets me change fonts or color
Look in View>Layout and check "Toolbar." Click OK. See if that enables the toolbar you want.

Outlook Express uses a Microsoft word processing program as a spell checker. Office 97 Pro works just fine with XP. But to use 97 for a spell checker for OE you need a file:

    csapit31.dll

You copy and paste it here:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof

Do a Google search for the .dll file.

If Miz's suggestion doesn't get you the toolbar you're looking for, perhaps it's set for plain text. When you open a new email, click on the format menu and then choose rich text (html) . The toolbar should appear when you do this. If you want it to default to this, in OE click tools>options and then on the send tab. Under mail sending format tick the circle next to HTML.
