    Hello Everyone:)

I hope that someone can explain what's going on with what I thought was a simple matter of my keeping up with my "computer maintenance ".

I went to nVidia's web site and downloaded the appropriate driver for my computer (I spoke to one of their technicians, and they advised me which driver I needed to download).

I followed the instructions; I disabled my Anti-virus software; went to Add-Remove Programs and removed the old drivers.....I know that I had to restart my PC somewhere, but I don't know if it was here OR after installing the new nVidia GeForce4 Mx420 driver, or BOTH, but I followed the instructions they gave me.

All went well, but a few days later I got a little reminder that there were Microsoft Updates to be downloaded...I was surprised, because this was right after Microsoft gave us 12 (!!) downloads.....I couldn't imagine that they had anything else to offer! I went to their download page, and there was the nVivia Driver....the EXACT MODEL that I just installed a few days earlier listed to be downloaded!!!! I already installed it......didn't Microsoft like the way I did it?

Why is the Video Driver that I already installed on my PC listed as a download on Microsoft's "must-do list "???? Will this happen EVERY TIME I make an upgrade on my PC, and if so, WHY????

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.....I really don't understand why I have to download this video Driver AGAIN from Microsoft....the one I got from nVidia is working just fine!

    TOTALLY Confused

The next time it tries to install the driver, choose advanced or some such (the second check box) and scroll down and tell them not to offer the driver anymore.

You can also go to the update site and hide the ones you don't want anymore.....

The driver you download was likely not the one that ws WHQL certified.
