After running spybot and adware I did a virus scan. It shows I have a threat (aklsp.dll) (Adware VirtuMond).I went into registry to delete the 2 files it gave me and I could not find them. (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run) (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run) Also I could not find (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WinowsUPd) and \SysUPd.
Then I thought to go into c:\windows\system32\aklsp.dll that is where it is. When I scan that file it comes up with a threat. I tried deleting it and it says: Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not in use. I cannot download HiJackthis. I followed the instructions but when it gets to scan it stops at HKCU\software\microsoft\internet\exploer\main,start page=http: highspeed rogers.yahoo. it says microsoft has encounted a problem and needs to close. Then it gives me the option to report error to microsoft or don't send. My operating system is XP professional service pack 2. Thankyou

Don't quite follow you on this - if you have been unable download HijackThis how have you managed to run an HJT scan??

If you can't download HJT go see a friend and download it through Quicklinks in my sig. It will fit on a floppy - copy it to a folder, eg HijackThis, on your hard drive - not the Desktop, run it and post the log here.

If you are able to download save to your hard drive as indicated above.

Thank you for replying I will take your advice and try it on a friends computer onto a floppy. When I went to download the program HiJackThis I only got to the part where it actually starts scanning your computer and then it comes to a stop on the one file HKCU/Software\Microsoft\internet explorer\main,start page=http: hispeed rogers.yahoo What I meant about the scanning of the computer earlier was I used Norton and it came up I had the AdwareVitumonde threat. Hopefully this makes better sense.
