    Hello,

I have a very special situation and need some advise and I am hopeing to get it here. I need to create leagal documents for court so that i can submit a motion to the courts on a particular matter. My biggest problem is I have to do this myself (cant afford a great white shark) umm attorney :D. The court has told me that I need to submit my motion to them in the proper forms and if i dont my motion will be rejected.

I need to create a sheet with a 2" indent at the left and it has to have 28 lines (with a space between each number). The indent has to have 2 continus lines all the way down the left side of the sheet. At the right side I have to have one continus line all the way down the sheet with a 1" indent

I hope this is understandable. I thought about trying out something like Microsoft WORD to create this document but am not sure this is what I need.
If there is anyone here that is good with this type of stuff I would greatly appreciate some guideance. I figured I could try here as my search on the net did not find any software that would help me create a leagal court document.

    Regards,
    FireDancer

While I don't know anything about the requirements for (US) court documents, I checked, and Word (2003) does include a "Pleading Wizard ", that may serve you...

Those requirements look like a system to keep legal companies in plenty of work!

Arie's suggestion is definitely a good place to start (and finish hopefully!). However, if that doesn't work for you:

Any good word processor should allow you to set up the margins you want. You can also use styles to define the way paragraphs behave. You'll have to do a little experimenting to get your line separation/spacing right - use a style to control this. MS Word is certainly a good choice. However, if you are more familiar with another word processor, you may find it easier to use that. I understand that WordPerfect is a popular choice with Legal secretaries. However, if you are used to Word, stick with it.

One thing to watch out for though, is that printers don't print right to the very edge of the page. The effect of this may be that a margin you set in Word as 1" may in fact come out a little bigger or smaller. Again, try it and adjust the sizing to suit the printer.

    Thank you all,

your responces are a HUGE help. I have bookmarked all your links and checked them out, while in my quest for the right software I investigated WORDPERFECT 2000 and found it has all of what I need to do this dasterdley job. It has a pleading wizard built in as Arie suggested in his post. I thank you all and I am well on my way to becoming a Great White Shark!!!!! LOL :D

    regards,
    FireDancer ;)

    Unfortunatly,

wordperfect 2000 is not free and cost somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 dollars :( I am useing the trial version now but will need it longer then the aloted 30 days. I have searched high and low for a free software that has a leagal pleading wizard and to no avail I dont think there is one. Maybe if someone knows of one I would appreciate it.

Wordperfect 2000 is awsome and has everything I need but again I am at a fork in the road as I can not afford the cost...heck If I could, I probably wouldnt be doing this myself :D thanks again for all your help

    Regards,
