I have been using 98SE since it was available as an upgrade, but alas, it will not support an upgrade to one of my favorite programs. Quite a while back I purchased a 2000 PRO upgrade, but never got around to installing it. Just checked the compatibility utility, and the report was not encouraging. Many problems with both hardware (a firewire card) and software upgrading to 2000. Most can be overcome with upgrades, but what a nuisance. Assuming there would still be some problems, would the upgrade path be easier if I went with ME instead?

    Thanks for any help.

    Bob

XP would be a better candidate for upgrade. What are your system specs.?

Well, you have plenty of system for it. XP would run well on that, and it's much more stable. XP also comes loaded with alot of drivers, so chances are good that all your current hardware would be loaded right up if doing a clean install. Backing them up first is always best though, just in case. There are programs available for that(free), and if you decide to go that way, I or someone can give you a link. Clean install is best, but if your current system is stable and clean, an upgrade would be fine. I still recommend backing up all personal data first. There is plenty of support here if you have more questions or have any problems, and would be best addressed in the XP forum.
