I just built a new machine. I must have tweaked my old system because I no longer have the Advanced Settings tab in Device Manager. I was trying to see if my disk drive was using DMA or PIO. I know that DMA is default in XP but if I follow the directions under the Tweak Sites, I end up in Device Manager, select the Primary IDE channel and then Properties. They keep telling me to go to the Advanced Settings tab. I don't have one on my new computer. Is there a registry setting or some "check box" to activate that tab? I have Windows XP Pro, Pentium 4 2.2 GHz, Abit TH7II motherboard with 512 MB RAMBUS memory. thanks in advance.

Well....I solved my own problem. I had installed Intel's Application Accelerator software. I uninstalled it and...presto-chango the Advanced tab came back. The only thing I can figure is that Intel's software sets the DMA on the Primary and Secondary channel for you and then removes the tab so you can't undo what it thinks is a better setting. Anyway....I'm going to read up some more on the application accelerator and maybe re-install it.
