I have both the Reader and the full version of Adobe Acrobat on my desktop. When I download a pdf file and open it, the default seems to be the full version which takes forever to load. Sometime I have the option to choose which program opens the file and I choose the reader but all the other times the full version opens it. With a right click on the pdf file, the full version is listed first and the reader is second. Is there someway to make the reader first on the right click, then it will probably be the default opener. I am using Mozilla and I have set the reader as the default but it doesn't seem to do any good. I think something has to be set in windows XP. Any ideas how to change the right click menu?

Right click on the file->Open With "Choose Program "

Select the Reader and place a check mark in the "always use" box.

    Some thoughts: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/faqs/acroread.html

    Open Acrobat.
Select Edit/Preferences. In the window that opens, click on the Options link in the left menu, and uncheck the option that says "Open PDF in Browser ". Now, return to your browser and clear your temporary internet files. Refresh the page, and click on the link to the PDF file. Follow any options to allow the PDF file to display in Acrobat Reader instead of Internet Explorer by Select in Reader Edit/Preferences and check the option to Open PDF in Browser.

If you installed Acrobat Full after Reader, uninstall Reader and reinstall.

Make sure that you permit Active-X controls to run.

Thank you both for your replies. I think I did make the selection to always use this choice but I do not think it worked. I did install Acrobat full after the reader and will try Bill's suggestion.
