On a Win2K based network, we have one NT4 Workstation client.

The only way to gain administrator privileges on this machine is logging on as the LOCAL administrator. If we logon as the domain administrator, we do not get full access to the NT4 machine, which is contrary to 2K/XP where it recognises you as a local admin if you're logged on as a domain admin.

This is causing serious inconvenience. Any ideas how to remedy this? Or do I have to upgrade it to 2K?

Problem is, this computer only seems to run Win95 or Win NT4. Any more recent OS' do not work - More specifically, I can never get them on the network. I suspect a motherboard problem, as I have a driver disk for all OS', and I run them for the OS I install, such as Win2k, but still, no joy.

Sorry for posting 2 questions in one (not relating to NT4 specifically). Hope someone can help!

Have you tried adding the domain admins to the local admin group?

And I agree that if the machine will only allow 95 or NT4 OS loads, it ain't right. Maybe time to replace it?

Well if I am unable to load 2000, etc, on it, I will dump it in the bin.
Any idea what the problem is, though, before I take it to the dumpyard? Everything works when I load a more recent OS, apart from the network card, (and I have tried many other network cards, all with right drivers).
