    MY PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I START WIN XP ONE OF THE SERVICE
    CONTROL MANAGER ALWAYS HAS A ERROR EVENT 7000 THIS ERROR IS AS FOLLOWS : THE DRIVERLINX PORT I/O DRIVER SERVICE FAILED TO START DUE TO THE FOLLOWING ERROR.
    THE SYSTEM CANNOT FIND THE FILE SPECIFIED. I THINK THE FILE
    NAME IS DLPORTIO . PLEASE CAN SOMEBODY ASSIST ME WITH THIS PROBLEM

    bradly - a couple of things.

    First a question - are you having problems or did you just take a look at the event logs and see this one?

    Next a request - much easier to help if we have an exact copy of the Event ID. Easiest way is to open it up and on the right side, just below the up/down arrow buttons, press the bottom of the three buttons. That will put a copy in your clipboard. Just open a reply here and paste the clipboard contents into the thread.

    I found This which offers this information:

    "Windows NT, Windows 2000, XP and their descendants require a special dll called: DLPORTIO.DLL to use the parallel and the serial ports. Windows 95, 98 (SE), ME don't need this special dll. "

    The site includes further help for getting and installing "dlportio.zip" if you should be so inclined.
